New Paint for the Holiday Rambler!

The Holiday Rambler got a new paint job!!  We were not planning on painting it so soon, but stumbled upon a great offer and couldn’t refuse!  It is not the BEST paint job in town, but a vast improvement.

It looks pretty darn good!!  I polished the gold banding with “Mother’s Cleaner and Polish” and it worked pretty well.  We need to live with the banding as-is because the gold anodized banding is no longer available.  We still need to figure out a fix for the poor entry door. It is in pretty bad shape.  Dear Husband bought a new piece of plexiglass for it, and I have a really clever idea to make it cute, but will wait to share it ‘cuz it might not work and be really horrible.  If it DOES work, I will post it.  If it DOESN’T work, well…..then we will have to get a new door.  Stay tuned!

I was really not loving the tail lights.  A previous owner had put some aftermarket ill fitting tail lights on and proceeded to smear silicone ALL OVER THE FREAKING PLACE.  They worked.  Fine.  But come ON.  Really??

Have I mentioned how smart and talented my Dear Husband is??  Well.  He had the most wonderful idea to get some 1963 Ford Galaxie Tail Lights to replace the sad ones that we had.  They are so cool!  AND they cover all the crap that had been smeared around the old ones!  Sweet.

I know 🙂

So we are leaving tomorrow for our first trip with the Rambler!  We are going to Garden of the Gods Campground near Colorado Springs.  It will be just a quick weekend trip.  The boys are hanging at home while the crazy parents roll into the sunset with the wiener dogs.  OK, OK,  OK…….my kids are not “boys”.  They are fine young men.  College son is coming home to chill with high school son while the wacky parents go and play.  WIN, WIN :).

Stay tuned for pics and updates.  Oh yeah!  I will get to try the awning!  Will definitely let you know how it goes and post pics of it installed.
